Why I need to Protect Kansas Children

Hi!
I have started this blog because of many people wanting to know what is going on with my family. Instead of trying to answer almost 100 emails a day I decided to do a blog. Most people know to protect your children from predators, strangers, bad people but in Kansas you also have to protect your children from Social and Rehabilitation(SRS) social workers, district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, guardian ad lietums(GAL), and juvenile court. SRS is the agency that is to protect children from abuse and neglect. SRS workers are targeting children with special needs for the money they receive from the government. I had heard of rumors but did not believe it until it happened to us.  Angel, Catrina, and I have Mitochondrial Myopathy. It is a form of Muscular Dystrophy. David, my husband and their father, is a disabled retired veteran. He served his country for over 26 years. He was in the Air Force for 19 years 1 month.  He has memory issues and would have anger issues. His anger issues have subsided but Angel and Catrina are not left home alone with him because he would not know how to care for them in an emergency. His doctors have stated that he is not a danger to his children but should not be their primary care giver. I am in a wheel chair. My legs are weak but I could walk. My doctor told me that if I choose to walk I will need to plan on taking a minimum of eight naps a day. How could I care for my children and husband? I chose to listen to my doctor. My family- father and sisters- actually think I want to be in the chair because I am lazy. I am also a failure to them because I opted to do weight loss surgery. My sisters will go around to people and tell them that I am faking and do not have the disease. They have never been to a doctors appointment with me or my children. My dad has stated that he does not go around telling people that I do not have the disease. I became very angry when my sisters were go around telling people that I am faking during my mother's funeral. This is off the subject. I just need to give you some background information. SRS became involved with us because our oldest daughter Angel was missing a lot of school because of panic attacks and seizures. The Kansas attendance law only states what an unexcused absence is.  The schools can decide on their own what is excused. There is nothing about how absences(excused or unexcused) are handle for children with special needs. I am a parent who will fight for my children to get the best education. David and I have always want our children to go to Lutheran schools.  The Lutheran schools cannot accept them because of their special needs for education. Angel was abused by a special education teacher and para in the fourth grade. It was witnessed by a social worker, other teachers, and me. In sixth grade, the teachers were not following the safety protocols and a boy was sexually harassing her. I did find out from students and teachers that she had fallen down the stairs a minimum of three times. I received no reports. I told the staff about a boy sexually harassing her. I was told that it could not be happening because she is never alone with him. I did a surprise visit. He walks with her to gym class alone. I pulled her out of school immediately. We found a home to buy in Wichita. It met our needs for our disabilities. We wanted to find a house close to where we were living in Butler County. I enrolled both of them in Haysville school district. Catrina was having some strange behaviors which the teacher was not telling the nurse or me. She was complaining about waking up with headaches in the morning. I contacted her doctor. He told me to give her medication and have her  sleep. If she felt better then send her to school. Angel started having panic attacks about her new school. At an IEP meeting, I asked what she was learning. It was a lie. They told me she was doing language arts, computer games, math, science, and adaptive gym class. She was only getting life skills and adaptive gym. I realized her math skills and reading were going backwards. I told David what I had discovered. We talked about home schooling them. I started researching for curriculum that would be Christ-centered and meet their educational needs. December 2,2010 SRS social worker (S. Uhlik) and a Family Preservation worker(DCCCA) came to our home because the schools have stated that they are truant. I stated that I turned in doctor notes for most of the absences. The schools do not have to accept doctors notes as excused absences. I told them that David and I will take care of the problem. I also stated that we were not going to miss church anymore because school is not to interfere with us practicing our faith. Uhlik told me that she can make us change churches, change faith, and even not believe in God and if you do not do as I say, I will take your children. You have no evidence of abuse or neglect. She stated that it is easy to come up with a convincing lie for children with special needs. Dec.3,2010 I filed to home school our daughters. I found acceptable Christ-centered curriculum by Alpha Omega Publishing Company. The curriculum was delivered by Dec.6,2010. Uhlik came over with the DCCCA worker again. I tried to show her the curriculum. She started to open the book. The DCCCA worker had me tell her that it was Christ-centered. She threw the book at me. She stated that she will make me put them back into public schools or change to appropriate curriculum.  She lied to a judge. The judge did not ask to see evidence. He only went on the court report. I thought that was how the law was written. The law is for a child to be removed from their home, their must be evidence of abuse and or neglect plus evidence of eminent danger. The juvenile court is not following the laws written by the Kansas law makers. The last election many people ran on the plat form Protect Kansas Children, Protect Kansas Families. I have not seen it. Most of the children in foster care are children who have been wrongfully removed and have special needs. Here is a website to check out:
http://wichitaksjuvenileconflict.blogspot.com/ plus YouTube has many videos about foster care and juvenile court in Kansas. We were going to keep our family on the east coast. David's last base was Andrews AFB, Maryland. We witnessed the plane going into the Pentagon on 9/11. We had many friends who worked at the Pentagon. God protected them. Many were sick, had meetings at other offices, or was stuck on the beltway. We decided we wanted to come home. We thought Kansas was a good place to raise our daughters. We are staring to question it. Many friends and family are wanting us to move out east or to Nebraska. If everybody ran and did not stand up for the children, who will make the stand to make Kansas safe to raise a family. People need to stop saying let somebody else do it. We need to make our courts follow the laws. Social workers should not be targeting special needs children. Many of the foster parents do not work. They use the money they get from doing foster care to pay the bills. This is teaching the children that they do not need to work. Some disturbing news I have recently found out is that many of the foster parents have been convicted of abuse and sex crimes. Their convictions were before the sexual predator registry program. Angel and Catrina told us and the foster care workers that the foster mom was abusing them. Nothing was done. Most children who were wrongfully taken develop mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder. The workers and state officials have stated that the children do fine and do not develop mental health issues. Angel has now been diagnosed with severe depression and Catrina with severe anxiety. They did not have depression or anxiety before going into foster care. At the end of this post, I will list their medial issues that have happened since they have been in foster care. The biggest problem with foster care is not putting the children with family first( by Kansas law family placement is to be first) and changing all of their doctors. Angel and Catrina are not being allowed to see the only qualified pediatric neurologist for Muscular Dystrophy. The foster care program is questioning the diagnosis. Did a doctor question the diagnosis-NO! My sisters. We were diagnosed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The foster care workers are trying to get a genetic study done. The blood tests that were ordered have not been approved by the insurance because it knows what tests have already been done by the military. One of the foster care workers is very disrespectful of the military. She states that she is going to find away to file medical malpractice against the military doctors who diagnosed you with this disease. She went to the base with our daughters for their medical check up and flu shot. I told the worker they cannot have the mist because of their lung problems. The medical tech at the base told her the same thing. She decided to argue with the tech. I was told that if she keeps up not following military protocol and arguing with staff, the police will be called to take her off the base. I have informed her supervisors but nothing was done.
January we will be fighting to keep our parental rights. The state ada states in court how can she be a good mother in a wheelchair. She also says how can I be a good teacher in a wheelchair. There is no proof of abuse or neglect. We had a very bad lawyer- Mr. Patrick Mitchell. He told us if we pleaded No Contest the state ada will not go after our parental rights. He also assured me it would not affect me getting my teacher's license. I cannot get a teacher's license unless I can find away to get this case thrown out. They are going after our rights. The reason for taking David's is because he is a disabled vet. His doctors have stated he is not a danger to his children. It is alright for him to risk his life for his country but he will not be allowed to raise his children. Our lawyers have assured us that we are not going to lose our rights. I found out at a family case plan meeting that the case manager for our case did not invite the correct lawyers to the meeting where it was discussed to take our rights. We have let our lawyers know it and the court. This is supposed to be enough to have the motion thrown out. When we first went to court on January 25,2011 I told our lawyer the children were taken because of us going back to church and home schooling using Christ-centered curriculum. Mr. Mitchell stated that juvenile courts do not have to protect religious rights. I asked about following the Constitution. He stated that it did have to follow the Constitution. I stated then it has to protect religious rights. He told me it was not going to happen.
I am not stupid. I have filed complaints with the proper offices for religious and disability rights being violated. I have found out about filing complaint against lawyers. I would just tell any parent in the same situation, have your case open. This allows offices and people who can protect your rights to look at what is going on in your case and you can file complaints. If you keep it closed, you will go to jail for filing complaints.
Mr. Joseph Scapa, Kansas House of Representatives- Wichita- You better not run for office again. You are a weak mind individual. I told you to look to see if there was evidence of abuse and neglect. I told you that there are allegations that were made up and not investigated. I better not hear that you are calling me a liar. You did not do your job of protecting the children or the people of Kansas. I will be letting the voters know. I know that you did not look at the file alone. You were possibly not shown the complete file. I was wondering what state representative the workers were making jokes about. I found out it was you.
In tomorrow's post I will give you addresses of people or offices to write and let them know how you feel about children being wrongfully taken in Kansas.
You know how the media went after the Anthony story because of the child missing for over thirty days before being called in missing.  Kansas had a child that was missing for 10 years before somebody called him in missing. It was not his adoptive parents who called it in but another foster child who lived in the home and wondered what happened to Adam. Teachers had reported abuse of Adam to SRS. He was in a foster home. There was no investigation. The foster parents who were abusing him were allowed to adopt him. His story is on the web link I listed earlier. Why did the media not pick up about this poor child missing for 10 years? He has been declared dead because of some evidence found. The adoptive parents have not been charged with murder yet. There are stories of many children not being rescued by SRS. These children have been reported by family and doctors. There has been actual evidence given to prove of the abuse and/or neglect but yet the child is only rescued if taken to the hospital with serious-critical injuries. Many of the children have been killed by their abuser. The only thing I have noticed is the child did not have special needs. The only way for a child to be rescued in Kansas is to have special needs. The only reason for taking a special needs child is because the child receives money from the government. This needs to stop NOW!
If you post on my blog site, there is to be no cussing or making racial comments. I will remiove any posts containig either of these.
